Felt strips for defined applications

Custom felt strips may be supplied as continuous rolls or cut pieces for cushioning, separation, surface protection, finishing, or other specified uses. The useful specification depends on the surface, contact, movement, and installation method.

  • continuous felt strips and roll formats
  • cut-to-length felt tape and pads
  • narrow felt strips for edges, interfaces, or protection
  • adhesive-backed felt where the backing suits the surface and conditions

Strip and tape details to confirm

  • width, length, thickness, roll or cut-piece format
  • felt material, density, color, surface, and edge requirements
  • adhesive or backing preference, surface type, and installation conditions
  • quantity, packaging, tolerance, and intended use

Continuous felt rolls or cut-to-length strips?

Identify the delivery format independently of the strip dimensions. For continuous rolls, give the strip width, required usable length and quantity in rolls or total length. State whether joins are permitted and identify any handling or packing constraint. For cut pieces, give width, piece length, dimensional limits and quantity in pieces.

A quotation for ten rolls cannot be compared with a quotation for ten cut pieces until the quantities and supplied lengths are aligned. Keep sample quantities separate from production quantities in the custom felt RFQ checklist.

How should narrow felt strip tolerances be specified?

List width, thickness and cut-piece length as separate requirements with units and permitted limits. Mark critical fit dimensions and the measurement conditions. If the strip works in a gap or bends around a corner, describe that assembly and review a sample in place rather than selecting by nominal thickness alone.

Adhesive-backed options

Adhesive backing is selected for the intended surface and use conditions rather than assumed as a default inclusion. Share the surface material, temperature, moisture, handling, and expected contact so the backing option can be reviewed.

For backing, surface, liner and sample approval details, use the adhesive-backed felt specification checklist when preparing the inquiry.

Sample and production review

Send a drawing, sample, or dimensional brief. We can then review the material, backing option, prototype or sample path, quality checks, and production details that require confirmation.
